Craft Room Mini-Makeover

My craft room got a mini-makeover tonight....thanks to my husband for putting together some new shelving! I am so loving being able to easily label everything with chalk labels/markers---everything has a place and can easily be found! It's not much....but it's my "girl cave"!

So, here are my new shelves. There's plenty of space for lots of  my things. Thank you, WalMart! And THANK YOU Mr. Hubby for getting them put together so quickly, because I have no patience and a huge need to organize something!

I've recently taken the time to invest in storage containers, pop-up totes and labels!
There are some great FREE printable labels on http://www.bhg.com
I highly recommend them. You've probably seen them on Pinterest as well.
Many people are grabbing these labels! Too cute!

My little workspace. Emphasis on little. But, it works for now.
The space needs something more....I'm just not sure what yet.
What's that on my desk, you say? Oh, just a little leisurely reading....
I can't believe this is a published magazine!!! Are you freaking kidding me?! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! This is the second issue I've bought, and I am so loving that someone understands what's going on inside my head and has put it in print. Genius! Go buy yourself one, and be inspired!!
I used to label things like this.... (with good old address labels)

Now, I label like this! Much easier to change the contents of the box and label it w/o sticky residue left behind.
No scrubbing old labels!

I love making my spaces and places HaPpY!

Medicine Cabinet Helper

I always have a hard time keeping track of the medicine I dole out to my kids when they are sick. I either have to write down the time/dosage/type of med on a piece of paper, or jog my memory....which sometimes doesn't work out so well.

Now that I'm on this chalk vinyl kick (and I happen to be attempting to rotate Tylenol and Motrin to get rid of one kid's fever)---I thought it'd be a great opportunity to use it to put inside of my medicine cabinet and jot myself some notes! Our medicine cabinet is in the kitchen---a great central location for Dad or babysitters to check for info. No more second guessing or forgetting to relay info. to the next person who's on medicine duty!

Love it!

Okay, so I lied....

In my last post I said I didn't have an Etsy shop...and at the time, I didn't! But really, I think it will just be easier. So...here it goes. Now I can stop being so indecisive. This is my new venue.

Welcome to my new Etsy Shop!!

Chalktastic Labels!

I have recently discovered the amazing fun of chalk markers and chalk labels! While it's not new to many crafters, it's new to me, and I am loving it! I NEED these for my classroom. I NEED these for my house. I simply NEED them because they are so freaking awesome! And durable. And fun. I can't wait to stick them to everything!

Want some? I'd be happy to make some for you as well! There are many different designs....but here are just a few. I don't have a site on Etsy or anything. I just like trying out all of these "Pinteresting" ideas...and since I can't make myself stop....maybe my friends, family and local folks can benefit from my craziness.

Hey Kids---Mom confiscated your stuff!

So....have you ever walked around your house to find toys, shirts, socks, puzzle pieces, lego figures, paper, and crayons just flung all over?! It's pretty much a daily occurrence at our house. We ask nicely for it to get picked up, we ask nicely again, we set it on the stairs and inch it up to the kids' rooms, we ask firmly....and then asking, telling, threatening to give it away, etc....just gets plain old! So....I confiscated all their junk belongings.

I'm not gonna lie. I feel like I am turning into my mother here. She told me this would happen someday. Don't tell her I'm admitting to finally understanding what she was talking about!

But....here's a trick that I did not get from my mother to fix this problem! I actually got it from a Pinterest pinner. If you see this post, and know who that person is, I'd love to give her credit. She had a bunch of brilliant ideas....including this one!

Meet: The Job Jar

Inside the job jar are a variety of.....you guessed it! JOBS! In order to claim an item back, the owner must complete a job. Here's the rules:

1. Choose one job
2. Complete it correctly
3. Siblings may not do a job for another sibling.
4. Only the owner may complete the task in order to get their belongings back.
5. No job, no item!
6. Un-claimed items will periodically be donated to Goodwill. Advance warning/notice may or may not be given. Parents will not commit to remembering to advise children when they are sick of looking at a full confiscation box of junk belongings.

As you will see, some jobs are easy, some are not. Some require more time than others, and some are simply silly tasks because, well.....they're kids, and we all make mistakes! Everyone enjoys getting off the hook once in awhile! However, most of the jobs are truly service jobs that carry multiple agendas: they benefit our home and other family members, as well as teach responsibility and dole out consequences that might make you remember to listen the first time!!

Snow Day = Craft Day!!

A snow day for me means a day at home with my kids!--SCORE! In between the fun and games, it's also a day for laundry, cleaning, and other mom stuff. And by laundry and cleaning, I really mean crafting. So....here's today's "laundry". Shhhh, don't tell my husband this is what I do on snow days!

And...since the day is not even over, maybe I really will do some laundry....maybe!
